LOOMIS - It was supposed to be wet and windy, instead it was just cold. The eigth seeded Del Oro Golden Eagles ended the ninth seeded Christian Brothers Falcons' season with a 42-13 victoy in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Division II playoffs. The Falcons never had the lead, being down 28-0 at one point. "I thought our offense really took over and got some quick scores," said Del Oro head coach Casey Taylor. "That two-minute drill at the end of the first half to get us up 21-0 was huge."
"We really came after it in the first half and we shut them down on defense," said senior Dylan Robertson. Golden Eagles quarterback Max Magleby was 10-11 with 168 yards and 4 TDs. Spencer Butterfield caught five balls for 70 yards and a score. Freddie Cargile had two catches for 35 yards and one TD. Bryce Pratt had 178 yards on the ground and one TD.
However, the offensive workhorse was Adrian Williams. The tight-end had three TDs, two receiving and one rushing.
The Golden Eagles will now face the top seeded St. Mary's Rams in Stockton on Friday November 27.
Go Mustangs!!
The first play came from the Pitman Pride at Monterey Trail Mustangs game.
In the first quarter, Mike Calvan of Monterey Trail launched a pass to the corner, hitting Jay Flury.
The second Big Play of the night took place during the Christian Brothers Falcons at Del Oro Eagles game.
Del Oro quarterback Max Magleby threw it over the head of a Falcon defender and found Spencer Butterfield for an Eagles touchdown.
Now, for our Good Hands Play of the Week. This game took place during the Napa Indians at the Nevada Union Miners game.
Miners running back Drew Hoskin moved into the quarterback position in this play. After taking the snap, D-H launched downfield to Dan Pettinato, as D-P made a great catch. The 25-yard play lead to a Nevada Union touchdown.
Pleasant Grove came in second last year for Division 1, and this year they had something to prove.
In the first half, Pleasant Grove QB handles the business by making a 50-yard touch-down run.
Pleasant Grove beats Franklin 28-to-7.
Denair had their game face on, as their QB Codee Watts connects with Trevor Werner for a 17-yard touch-down pass.
But Highlands wasn't having it. They got their head in the game and beat Denair by only 3 points.
Highlands won 24-to-21.
